Mercury shoots up in Delhi (Lead)

New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) It was a bright and hot day for the capital’s residents Tuesday with the maximum temperature four notches above the average for this time of the year.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.1 degrees Celsius.

“It was a clear and bright day with the maximum temperature much above the average for this time of the year. The minimum temperature at 15.8 degrees Celsius was a degree above the average,” an IMD official said.

Sarika Sharma, a home maker said: “Today it was extremely hot during the day. I had gone out shopping but ended up cutting short the trip because of the heat.”

The humidity oscillated between 33 and 93 percent, the official added.
