Shimla, Jan 21 (IANS) The minimum temperature in most parts of Himachal Pradesh dipped further Saturday, the Met office here said.

Temperatures across the hill state, except for Shimla, plummeted though there was no major spell of snow or rain in the past 24 hours, the meteorological office said in a statement.

Shimla, however, saw a slight rise in the night temperature mainly due to cloudy conditions.

It saw a low of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, a rise of 0.7 degree from Friday, with 2.4 cm of snow.

“The maximum temperature in Shimla these days is four to five degrees below average,” a weatherman said.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state. It recorded a night temperature of minus 14.7 degrees Celsius, a decline of 1.8 degrees from Friday.

Likewise, Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw the night temperature at minus 9.6 degrees, Manali was minus 6.6 degrees and Dharamsala 1.2 degrees.

On Friday the minimum temperature at Kalpa was minus 6 degrees, Manali minus 2.4 degrees and Dharamsala 2.1 degrees respectively.

A fresh western disturbance will affect the state from Jan 22 to 25, said the weather office.
