Mercury dips in Delhi (Lead)

New Delhi, June 8 (IANS) The capital, which was reeling under the blazing sun for some days, witnessed a comparatively cooler day as the mercury registered a five-degree drop Wednesday.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below average, and the minimum temperature settled at 27.4 degrees Celsius, also a notch below what is an average for this time fo the season, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Tuesday was one of the hottest days of the season as the temperature shot up to 43.6 degrees Celsius.

The humidity was recorded between a high of 57 and a low of 22 percent, said the official.

Similar conditions are likely to prevail Thursday and the mercury is expected to remain around 37 degrees Celsius.

“The sky will remain partly cloudy, and there is a possibility of dust storm and thunder storm in some areas of the capital,” added the official.
