Mercury dips further in Delhi, heat wave in central India

New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) It was another bright and sunny day Friday in the national capital with pleasant weather even as parts of central India witnessed severe heat wave conditions. The maximum temperature in the capital plummeted to 33 degrees Celsius - down from nearly 37 degrees Celsius for most part of this week. The day’s low was at a comfortable 20.5 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department in its bulletin has said that Madhya Pradesh and parts of central are facing heat wave conditions.

“Maximum temperature are 40-43 degrees Celsius over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Jharkhand. The temperatures are 2-3 degrees above normal,” it said.

The weather office also said that the current temperature trends would show an upward trend in the coming days.

Many parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are having wet weather for the past 24 hours from Friday.

“The current meteorological analysis suggests that ongoing activity is likely to continue during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter,” the Met Office said.
