Mercury dips as rains lash Delhi (Second Lead)
November 13th, 2010 - 8:35 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 13 (IANS) Heavy showers lashed the national capital Saturday making the city colder as the day temperature fell four degrees below the normal, weather officials said.
Delhi received 18 mm of rainfall during the day.
The maximum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees above the average for this time of the season.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the rainfall to a low pressure circulation over Rajasthan.
The weather office forecast a further drop in day temperature in the coming days but said the temperature would start rising after that.
“The skies will remain partly cloudy with possibility of rain or thundershowers Sunday,” said an IMD official.
On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees, respectively.
The humidity levels will waver between a high of 94 percent and a low of 55 percent, the official added.
