Man with 250 rare animals caught in Argentina
December 27th, 2011 - 2:14 pm ICT by IANSMexico City, Dec 27 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Argentine police detained a Czech national who tried to board a flight to Madrid with around 250 rare reptiles and mollusks in his luggage.
Airport staff spotted living creatures while conducting infrared screening of the luggage, the La Segunda newspaper said Tuesday.
A subsequent search revealed that the luggage also contained nine poisonous snakes.
The man was detained and charged with smuggling exotic animals. He faces from four to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
The report, however, did not specify where the man was exactly caught.
