Lizards Dying Of Heat

May 14, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): It appears that it is not just the human beings, who are encountering the warming of the earth and the consequent rising temperature. Apparently, global warming is liquidating lizards and creating a danger to their existence. In an investigation, headed by a global squad of biologists, it has been unearthed that these reptiles now cannot be witnessed in some destinations in Mexico, where they once flourished till 1975.

The investigation has forecast that approximately 40 percent of the international lizard populace will pass away and about 20 percent of their species will extinct by 2080.

The fact stays that lizards are not going to breathe their last breath owing to heat directly. However, global warming will lead to an extended period when they must search for shelter. The heat will compel them to move back into the shade and they won’t be able to rummage around for food, resulting in failure to have children.

The initial discovery was executed by researchers by positioning an electronic device across 200 areas in Mexico. They discovered that speedy warming was causing the animals to use up more time in cooler retreats. This has thwarted them from getting food. It has also prevented them from reproducing at a level required to keep up a secure population size.

Scientists are justifiably anxious that this will lead to a considerable change in the food chain as lizards are a significant component of it. They wolf insects and are devoured by birds, snakes and other animals. This unearthing emphasizes that this is a credible sign that we have joined an age when oppressive climate will generate the diminishment and annihilation of animals.
