Lightning kills four in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 9 (IANS) Three farmers and a girl were killed after they were struck by lightning in Jharkhand Saturday, police said. According to police, the four victims from Deorui village in Giridih district, about 210 km from here, were working in a field, sowing paddy crops in the afternoon when the tragedy occurred.

Lightning has claimed at least 35 lives in the state this year.

The Jharkhand government has urged the central government to term deaths due to lightning as a natural calamity.
