LA’s weather breaks heat wave record

Los Angeles, Sep 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Los Angeles has been hit by record temperatures this year.

Temperatures soared above the 100 degrees mark on Monday hitting a

record 113 degrees. The heat wave forced residents to the beaches and in to the shades to escape the scorching sun.

The temperature beats the June 26, 1990 record of 112 degrees. Several other cities in America also saw temperatures above the 100 degrees. Cities like Anaheim, where Disneyland is located, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo and Salinas.

Firefighters are still battling small bushfire. Though the bushfire remains small, it has remained persistent and firefighters are yet to extinguish the fire. The heat as expected is having its toll on productivity. Workers output have been affected with most workers rushing home to have cold showers and rest from the heat wave.

The temperature which was recorded at exactly 12:15pm on Monday is the highest since Americans began to keep records in 1877. The temperature however receded to 111 before moving up to 112. The thermometer of the National Weather Service office at Los Angeles eventually stopped working at 1 pm prompting views that the temperatures could have gone beyond the 113 mark.
