The High Performance School Buildings Workshop selected speakers who were involved in the design and planning of high-performance buildings, and will describe strategies that set a new standard in learning environments and still fit within a typical school budget.
The workshop will also feature site visits to local high-performance schools, providing school leaders with a first-hand look at high performance buildings. The teams responsible of the projects will address on how to achieve these goals and its benefits, such as reducing costs and greenhouse gas emissions, increase health and comfort for students and staff, use emerging technologies and daylight, and create student energy teams.
“Kentucky has quickly moved from the end of the line to the front of the pack nationally in energy conservation, thanks in large part to innovative, informative programs like the High Performance Sustainable School Buildings workshops,” said Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear.
The High Performance School Buildings Workshop is targeted for school superintendents, board members, facilities managers, architects and engineers. It will be held March 23-24 at the Embassy Suites in Lexington.
