Japan Faces Heavy Snowfall, Toyota Halts Work Temporarily

t1largjapansnowgiafpJapan, Jan 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It would be wrong to assume that only Europe and USA are reeling under the onslaught of winter, the Asian countries like Japan are also facing the onslaught. The excessive snowfall in the last few days has made a mess of the transport system of Japan and the commuters are at the receiving end as usual. It has been reported that some apart of Japan have witnessed 8 feet of snowfall. The snowfall has taken the toll on the Bullet trains and the drivers have been forced to slow down the speed of the trains. Not only that, the weather has forced Toyota the Japanese car maker to temporarily close the operation at 12 of its factories. The snowfall has affected the functioning of Shinkansen, or bullet trains and they are running beyond schedule. Since Sunday almost 67000 passengers have been affected by the train delay as Central Japan Railway said. 75 trains were late by two hours and the commuters got late for work as a result.

Toyota was compelled shut down a number of its factories in Japan as snowfall interfered with taking car components inside the factory. The sea of Japan was affected by massive snowfall and Central Japan was where the public life was mostly affected. Toyota Motors said that it will not lose owing to the shutdown of factories and the loss will be covered on a backup day later. A company spokesperson also said that the work is likely to start again on Tuesday.

The snowfall turned roads slick and risky. As a result Tomei Expressway was closed in parts on Monday.
