New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) The dream weather in Delhi continued Monday as people enjoyed springtime with mild temperatures and cool mornings and evenings. The maximum temperature was a breezy 30 degrees Celsius, partially blowing away the Monday blues of the people as they started a new week. The pleasant weather is an extension of a near-perfect weekend the city enjoyed.

The trees are shorn of leaves as new shoots are coming, giving the capital a brief interlude of pleasant weather after an unusually strong winter and ahead of the usually harsh summer.

The minimum temperature was also a pleasant 15 degrees Celsius in the city. The capital’s weather was mirrored in most parts of the northern plain. The people in this region are enjoying this spell while bracing for the long summer season ahead, which invariably spells acute shortages of water, long hours of electricity outages, and irritability in general.

Even the normally cold Srinagar Monday saw temperatures way above normal. The day’s high was 20 degrees Celsius, nine degrees above normal.

The Met Office has said that eastern disturbance could bring rainfall to parts of southern peninsula. Thiruvananthapuram and nearby areas saw light showers Monday.

The following were the maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall in major cities for the 24 hours till Monday morning, with figures in brackets denoting deviations from the average.
