“The men have been stranded near Baralacha Pass since this morning due to snowfall,” Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner C. Paul Rasu told IANS on telephone.
Baralacha Pass (16,020 ft), located in Lahaul and Spiti district, is 222 km from the tourist town of Manali on the Manali-Leh highway.
A team has been sent to rescue them and provide them ration and woollens, the official said. “The administration is in contact with them, and all of them are fine.”
The highway plays an important role in the movement of the armed forces to the forward areas in Ladakh.
