Hurricane Jimena Now A Category 5 Storm

hurricaneThe menacing Hurricane Jimena has escalated in to a maximum Category 5 storm now, as it heads on its way to Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, according to the Mexican officials.

The now ferocious storm had been gradually building over the days that it has been traveling across, and now is said to pack maximum sustained winds of 155 mph (250 kmh). There should be some respite in the news that has been stated by the National Weather Service that the wind speed might plunge for a steep fall somewhat before it strikes the land on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Directly in its path of projection lies about 20,000 families, who are awaiting the catastrophe to befall them when the fearsome storm approaches the Baja peninsula. The preparations for the emergency evacuation operations are already said to have been brought in to action,for the high at risk areas, with a wide focus on the most densely populated regions. Residents of the region have also started boarding up their homes in an effort to combat the fiery hurricane. As many as 10,000 families have been cautioned to evacuate their shacks. An international tax conference scheduled to take place in the region has now been shifted inland to the Mexico City, in anticipation of the situation.

Till Monday, the Hurricane Jimena was slotted as a Category 4 storm with all indications standing that it might upgrade even further. According to an update reports, the eye of the storm was said to be approximately 305 miles south of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and was said to be moving at 10 mph.
