Hot start of week for Delhi (Lead)

New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) Monday marked the start of another hot week in the Indian capital as the day temperature continued to hover above the 40-degree Celsius mark accompanied with hot winds.

Delhi recorded a maximum of 41.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above what is normal for this time of the month, while the minimum temperature climbed up three degrees above the average at 27.7 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast for dry weather Tuesday.

“Skies would be clear and weather would remain dry with hot winds blowing,” said an official of the IMD.

Humidity was wavering between 25 and 56 percent.

On Sunday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 29.6 and 42.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

The temperature broke a five-year record May 13, when the mercury reached 43.1 degrees.
