Hot, dry day in Delhi, mercury to rise Saturday (Lead)
May 18th, 2012 - 8:16 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 18 (IANS) It was a hot, dry day in Delhi Friday after a dust haze enveloped the city in the morning. The Met Office has forecast clear, sunny skies Saturday.
The skies remained cloudy for a major part of the day and the maximum temperature was 41 degrees Celsius, two notches above what is the average this time of the season. The minimum temperature was 28.2 degrees Celsius, also two notches above average.
The humidity levels wavered between a high of 54 and a low of 17 percent.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury is expected to rise Saturday and skies remain clear. The dust haze caused by winds blowing from the Thar desert in Rajasthan would also subside.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 42 and 27 degrees Celsius.
Thursday’s maximum temperature was 38.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum 27.3 degrees Celsius.
