New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) The International Advertising Association has started a global campaign, Hopenhagen, to keep the pressure mounting on world leaders to take the right decisions at the United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen Dec 7-18.
The movement whose tagline is ‘when people lead, leaders follow’ urges people from across the world and all walks of life to sign a petition that has three main points and will be submitted to the leaders at the summit.
One of the demands of the petition is to reach a climate agreement that is equitable, definitive and effective. Another demand is to set binding targets to cut greenhouse gases by 2020.
The third demand is to establish a framework that will bolster the climate resilience of vulnerable countries to protect lives.
One can join the movement by visiting its website www.hopenhagen.in or sign up on the social networking site Facebook. They are also available on Twitter.
Amongst those companies that initiated the movement are Coca Cola and Siemens who have pledged to bring a change in their business practices and are encouraging others to join the movement and involve the local community too.
