Himachal’s Kashang hydel project gets clearance
June 15th, 2011 - 9:29 pm ICT by IANSShimla, June 15 (IANS) The central government has granted environmental clearance to the 130 MW Kashang hydro power project in Himachal Pradesh, an official statement said here Wednesday.
The Asian Development Bank-funded project is to be set up in Kinnaur district.
The ministry of environment and forests has approved the diversion of 17 hectares of forest land for the construction of the hydroelectric project being executed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), the statement quoting Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.
The first stage of the project would be completed by January 2013, while the second and third stages would be commissioned by March 2015.
