Shimla, Feb 3 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh saw an unusual rise in temperatures Thursday due to long sunny days in the past few days, but the Met Office here forecast chances of rain and more snowfall in the next three days.”There are chances of more rainfall and snowfall across the state from Feb 4 to 6,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.
He said the western disturbances - storm systems originating from Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would be active in the region again.
Most of the prominent tourist towns like Narkanda, Manali and Dalhousie, located in mid-hills, may witness mild snowfall, he said.
“The higher reaches in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu district are likely to experience moderate to heavy snow,” the weatherman said.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 11.4 degrees Celsius.
Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 9.8 degrees, 8.4 degrees more than the normal, whereas the maximum was 19.6 degrees.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of 1 degree, while it was 2.5 degrees at Bhuntar and 4.7 degrees at Dharamsala.
These towns recorded the day temperature at 9.4 degrees, 20.1 degrees and 20.6 degrees Celsius.
