Himachal braces for more snow, rain
February 16th, 2012 - 6:45 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Feb 16 (IANS) After two consecutive days of sunshine, Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive more rain and snow over the weekend, the Met Office here has forecast.
“There are chances of rain and snowfall in the state from Feb 18 to 20,” the weatherman told IANS.
He said storm systems originating from the Mediterranean Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region into northern India would be active again in the region, and bring rain and snowfall.
Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, was the coldest in the state Wednesday, recording a minimum temperature of 11.9 degrees Celsius below the freezing point. It also experienced one cm of snowfall.
Shimla recorded the night temperature at 0.2 degree, a fall from Wednesday’s 1.4 degrees.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees with 1.8 cm of snowfall, while it was 3 degrees below the freezing point in Manali and 2.5 degrees celsius in Dharamsala.
