Heat wave sweeps across Orissa, two killed
March 29th, 2010 - 10:26 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, March 29 (IANS) At least two people were killed in the heat wave sweeping Orissa with the maximum temperature at several places crossing 40 degrees Celsius, an official said Monday.
“At least two people have died of sunstroke — one each in the district of Jajpur and Balasore,” an official of the state revenue control room told IANS.
“The deaths occurred last week but were confirmed by the local administration today (Monday),” he said.
Places where the maximum temperature continued to be high Monday included Jharsuguda (42.4), Sambalpur (42.0), Titilagarh (40.5), Bolangir (40.6), Sundergarh (41.0) and Angul (40.7), an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre said.
The heat wave condition would prevail over some parts of the state during next two days, he said.
