Giant Oil Plume Seen In Alabama

Alabama, May 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Gulf of Mexico is still burning and the scientists have now discovered yet another oil plume which they claim is drifting towards Alabama. The oil plume is reportedly huge in size, measuring up to 6 miles wide and 22 miles long in the hydrocarbon readings . This is the second such oil plume that has been seen in the Gulf after the disastrous oil spill earlier this year, but is more reason for worry because while the previous one was on its way to the water body, this one is on its way to the shore.
The undersea oil cloud, reports the marine scientists has its origins near the site where the oil well had burst. These scientists are of the opinion that both oil plumes are a result of using chemical dispersants to break up the spilled oil. What is causing more alarm is the fact that these chemical dispersants are not only leading to the formation of giant oil plumes but also affecting the sea life in the Gulf of Mexico.
While the small fishes are the ones who are directly affected, the larvae of these fishes die a premature death and the whales who consume these fishes also fall ill in the long run. Therefore the scientists have come to the conclusion that these oil plumes do not occur naturally but are the result of reaction of chemicals with oil. These chemicals are actually increasing the toxic levels of the oil plumes and thus they pose even more danger to any form of life that comes across these giant oil clouds.
