Four die of snakebite in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, June 14 (IANS) Snakebite has killed four people, included two children, in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district. Officials at the directorate of health services here said that siblings Saraswati, 8, and Madhusudan, 6, died Friday after being bitten by a snake while they were asleep.

The children were from a forested village Dadtoli, some 500 km north of Raipur.

In two other incidents elsewhere, Naval Tirki and Garju Nagbanshi died Friday night after being bitten by snakes.

The forested tribal dominated Jashpur district reports dozens of snakebite deaths every year during monsoon.
