Fog in Delhi hits rail traffic (Lead)

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) Dense fog in Delhi Friday morning affected train service and 35 trains were running late, officials said. Air traffic, however, remained unaffected.

According to the northern railway website at 4 p.m., 35 trains were running late by more than an hour while two services had been rescheduled.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility dropped to 300 metres at 8:30 a.m. and the minimum temperature was recorded two notches above average at 6.1 degrees Celsius.

?The fog will continue till Feb 20,? said an IMD official. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 21 and the evening is expected to be very chilly.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 21.7 degrees.
