New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS) With the capital shivering on the season’s coldest day at 3.3 degrees Celsius Saturday, morning fog disrupted train services in the capital.

“While over 40 trains were delayed due to fog, seven were rescheduled,” said a Northern Railway spokesperson.

Seven flights, which were scheduled to land and take-off at the capital’s Indira Gandhi International airport were cancelled Saturday due to operational reasons, airport officials said.

However, 20 flights were delayed due to bad weather conditions at the destination airports and the rest 46 flights due to operational or technical reasons, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport operator, said in a statment Saturday.

The national capital witnessed the coldest day of the season Saturday with the mercury dipping to 3.3 degrees Celsius - five notches below average.

While the maximum temperature was recorded two notches below average at 20 degrees, the humidity wavered between a high of 93 and low of 33 percent.

The Met Office has forecast a chilly weekend with a further fall in the temperature.

“Sunday will be foggy and the minimum temperature is likely to settle at 3 degrees. The sky will be clear during the day,” a Met official said.

The maximum temperature is likely to be 20 degrees Celsius.
