TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Florida Governor Charlie Crist on Tuesday signed Executive Order 10-101 that establishes the Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force to support Florida businesses and industries in recovering from the losses suffered due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force will continue to operate until its objectives are achieved or until May 11, 2011, unless it is extended in the future. The members will be selected by Crist and a report will be sent for analyzing the advances and accomplishments made every 30 days.

The Task Force will coordinate state agencies in order to assist affected businesses and industries by providing financial relief, gathering economic loss data and creating a marketing plan to ensure that the vitality of business and tourism industries continue to prosper. A website will also be made in order to facilitate communications with businesses and industries.

On April 20, an explosion on the mobile drilling rig Deepwater Horizon took place 130 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana; the rig sank and the U.S. Coast Guard estimated that the well was releasing 200,000 gallons per day. As a result, the fishing industry, the wholesale industry, the retail industry, the tourism industry and the manufacturing industry have been affected.
