Earthquake Of 3.7 Magnitude Hits Bay Area In Southern California

earthquake Pleasanton, Calif., October 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An earthquake with magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter Scale had hit California close to 8:27 p.m stated the Geological Survey of the United States. It was also stated by them that the earthquake had 5 miles of depth. Northern California’s Alameda County had experienced the shocks of the quake. The place is located almost at the southeastern side of Oakland at a distance of almost thirty three miles. From south of Pleasanton, it is only a distance of three miles.

The reports of injuries and damages were not yet reported to the Police Department of Pleasanton. Police Department has received several calls after the earthquake. This week the Bay Area would be observing Loma Preita earthquake’s 20th anniversary. It was a massive earthquake which had shaken the place with 6.9 magnitude causing damages in Monterey Bay and San Francisco region. People of this region would participate in earthquake drills to mark the day of Loma Preita earthquake. These drills would make them better equipped at the time of disaster.

The fire stations of the region would also take part in the drills planned for earthquake shake-outs. They would practice the procedures that they have to use at the time of earthquake. Watch groups and graduates of the Community Emergency Response Teams [CERT] were also asked to participate in the drill. The organizers have planned of several drills for creating earthquake awareness among people.

The program of the Bay Area is inspired from the drills that Southern California had practiced in the previous year. It was a great success and over five million had participated in it. Tuesday’s earthquake is expected to increase the number of people joining the earthquake drills of Bay Area.
