Earthquake measured 4.9 Richter shakes Sichuan, China
October 31st, 2008 - 10:12 am ICT by Bupha RavirotA moderate earth quake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook eastern region of Sichuan, China at 10:06 am CST, Friday, October, 31. reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck at about 31.944°N, 104.628°E with a depth of 10 km. The epicenter is 55 km NNW from Mianyang, 125 km WSW from Guangyuan of Sichuan, 320 km NW from Chongqing and 1380 km SW from Beijing, China.
However there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
July 21, 2008, 8.0 Richter earthquake in Sichuan killed 69,197 are, 374,176 injured, with 18,222 listed as missing and about 4.8 million people homeless. It was the deadliest and strongest earthquake to hit China since the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, which killed at least 240,000 people. Approximately 15 million people lived in the affected area.
