Earthquake Hits Ventura County Near Oxnard

oxnardOxnard, California, October 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ventura County was hit by an earthquake on Friday. As stated by the Geological Survey of the United States, the earthquake that had hit this county recorded a magnitude of 3.2. It was stated that the quake hit was felt in the area around 9:53p.m. The quake hit was not very strong and people reported that they had felt some shakes. Sources stated that the quake had centered four miles from Port Hueneme’s east. The quake center was close to Oxnard city with only a distance of four miles from its east-southeast part.

A police dispatcher of Oxnard was contacted after the earthquake. It was stated that they had received many calls after the earthquake. However, none of them had made any reports of damage or injury from the quake. Some of the media sources stated that quake effects were also felt in Bakersfield and Malibu. Earthquake hits were experienced by different states in the last couple of months. Few days ago, there was another earthquake in California which had a magnitude of 3.7 in the Richter scale.

The state authorities had planned different earthquake drills so that people can take the correct step at the time of disaster. This week there was a shakeout drill in California. It was stated by sources that over six million people had registered the shakeout drills. Sources also stated that last year, the drill had 5.5 million participant registrations. State agencies had sponsored this drill to help people know what they should do if an earthquake hits their region.
