Delhi witnesses a hot day (Lead)

New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) Delhi witnessed a scorching day Tuesday with the mercury rising to 42.8 degrees Celsius, five notches above the average, the weatherman said.The national capital recorded a minimum of 25.3 degrees Celsius, two notches above the average.

The Met officials have forecast maximum and minimum temperatures Wednesday to hover around 42 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. The India Meteorological Department ruled out the possibility of rain in the capital any time soon.

Early last week, scanty rain brought temperatures down and provided some relief from the heat for the residents of the capital.
