Delhi has pleasant day on Independence Day (Lead)

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) It was a pleasant day in the national capital with parts of the city receiving rainfall Wednesday when the country celebrated its 66th Independence Day. The met office has forecast more rains Thursday.

“The skies will be cloudy tomorrow (Thursday) and light rains are expected across the city,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively, the official added.

The capital received a total of 3 mm of rainfall Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and the skies remained overcast throughout the day.

Wednesday’s maximum and minimum temperatures were 33.7 and 26.7 degrees Celsius, respectively, both average for this time of the season.

The humidity levels wavered between a high of 90 percent and a low of 67 percent.

Tuesday’s maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.6 and 25.9 degrees Celsius, respectively — both one notch below average.
