Delhi has a sultry Sunday (Lead)
May 23rd, 2010 - 8:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 23 (IANS) A high humidity level and relatively higher temperature made Sunday unbearably hot and muggy for Delhiites, who kept gazing at the cloudy and hazy sky in the hope of a shower or two.
The maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 43.6 degrees Celsius, which was three notches above the average, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature was recorded four notches above average at 30.7 degrees Celsius.
“The humidity was 47.30 percent,” the official said.
Forecasting similar weather conditions for Monday, the Met Office said the maximum temperature will hover around 43 degrees Celsius.
“The minimum will be little less at 27 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain clear,” the official said.
