Delhi gets another green lung
March 6th, 2010 - 11:44 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 6 (IANS) The capital is all set to get another forest at Pandwala Khurd in southwest Delhi with the state government planning to plant 10,000 saplings in the coming days.
Principal Secretary P.K. Tripathi Saturday inaugurated the new city forest and said: “Greening drive of Delhi government has gained momentum now.”
Giving credit to schoolchildren for showing the path to the government for adopting a green approach, Tripathi said: “The entire credit of large-scale greening activity goes to school children who have become the role models in this field.”
With this, the green cover of Delhi would exceed 20 percent of its total area.
The new forest is being developed over 40 acres of land.
