Cyclone Phyan spares Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cyclone Phyan is moving towards north Maharashtra coast. Low-lying areas in Maharashtra and Gujarat are being evacuated. Cyclone bypassing Mumbai yet further rain is expected.
Gujarat CM calls for an emergency meeting to deal with the Gujarat cyclone. Heavy rains lash Goa, Konkan, Mumbai and Pune. Fishermen have been advised not to venture out into the sea. 8 people have been rescued off the Ratnagiri coast. Some 600 fishermen are still in the sea, government is doing its best to rescue them. 30 fishermen trawlers have gone missing.
However according to latest reports, the cyclone alert for Gujarat has been removed too. Only adjoining areas of Mumbai are on cyclone alert.
According to latest reports, cyclone is heading towards Gujarat and has skipped Mumbai. Heavy rains are expected in Mumbai and Daman. 16 additional local trains have been added on the Western and Central lines to tackle the home going rush. Maharashtra CM says that all emergency services have been activated. Mumbai is right now experiencing huge traffic jams due to the rush of people going home plus also due to waterlogging too. Power failures have also been present in Mumbai and Pune.
Mumbai received around 10 cm of rain today and during the last 2 hours it has hardly witnessed rain. As of now, the cyclone Phyan is crossing the Mumbai coast.
The city, which has witnessed lots of rain in every rainy season, is not taking the cyclone warning lightly. The city has almost shut down with people leaving for their homes and not taking any chances with their lives. Port activities have been reduced. Rough and violent seas are the norm as of now.
