Crocodile found in trench in Hyderabad
November 9th, 2010 - 12:42 am ICT by IANSHyderabad, Nov 8 (IANS) A crocodile was found in a trench on the outskirts of Hyderabad Monday, causing panic among locals, police said.
The crocodile was spotted at Kokapet in Nanakram Guda by workers at a construction site Monday evening.
Officials of Nehru Zoological Park rushed to the area and launched efforts to catch the reptile.
The crocodile was found in a 15-foot deep trench dug for construction of a building in the area.
It was not clear how the crocodile found its way to the trench. Some people believe that it may have come from a nearby lake.
A crocodile had come out of the zoo in Bahadurpura area about 12 years ago but the zoo officials caught it and brought it back.
Since Nanakram Guda is far off from the zoo, the officials have ruled out that possibility of the crocodile coming from the zoo.
