Cool weekend for Delhi, thunderstorm likely Sunday (Lead)

New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) The weekend started on a cool note for Delhi as the sky was partly cloudy and the the temperature dipped a notch below average Saturday. Sunday is expected to be cloudy with chances of thunderstorm accompanied by hail and squalls, according to weatherman.The maximum temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 10 degrees — both a degree below the average for this time of the season. Humidity remained high with the maximum touching 92 percent.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a cloudy Sunday with chances of hailstorm and squalls during the day.

“The partly cloudy sky will become cloudy towards the evening and thunderstorm and squall may occur,” an IMD official told IANS.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are forecast to be around 24 degrees and 12 degrees respectively.
