Cool day in Delhi, more rain in store (Lead)

New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) It was a pleasant day for Delhiites Wednesday, with slight drizzle in the morning and partly cloudy skies keeping the maximum temperature down five notches below average at 33.8 degrees Celsius. The weatherman has forecast more rain for Thursday.

The minimum temperature too was below average Wednesday following a downpour overnight. The capital city received 39.2 mm of rain from Tuesday till Wednesday morning.

“The minimum temperature was four notches below average at 23.7 degrees Celsius and the city received 0.2 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The humidity levels touched 91 percent, while the minimum was 56 percent.

According to IMD, more rains are expected Thursday and the skies will remain partly cloudy.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 37 and 27 degrees, respectively,” added the official.
