Cool breeze in Delhi, rains predicted

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) It was a cool morning in Delhi Wednesday with cloudy skies promising rains later in the day, the weather office said.
“Skies will be cloudy and thundershowers are expected in some parts of the city later in the day,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature hovered around 26.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above average for this time of the season. The maximum temperature was expected to hover around 31 degrees.

The maximum humidity was on the higher side at 97 percent while the minimum was 75 percent.

The city recorded 13.3 mm of rainfall from Tuesday morning till Wednesday 8.30 a.m.

As heavy rains lashed parts of the capital Tuesday evening, traffic jams were reported during peak hours.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) reported 17 waterlogging complaints, four incidents of trees falling and five cases of buildings being damaged from different parts of the capital.

Delhi has recorded 813.8 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, which is 43 percent above average. In September alone, the capital received 115.3 mm of rainfall - almost 88 percent above the usual.
