- New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) With a drop of seven degrees in the average maximum temperature, Delhi Thursday witnessed the coldest November day in the last five years, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The maximum temperature recorded at 5.30 p.m. Thursday evening was 22.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was four degrees above the average at 15.6 degrees Celsius.
“Not only was today the coldest day of the season but also the coldest day in November in the last five years,” an IMD official told IANS.
The skies were overcast through the day with a light drizzle in parts of the capital in the evening. However, the amount of rainfall was too little to be recorded.
According to the IMD, the chill in the weather is also due to cyclonic rainfall on the southern and western coasts. The visibility dropped to 500 meters around 9.30 a.m. as mist hung over Delhi.
