Cold wave returns to Orissa
January 18th, 2010 - 12:18 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 18 (IANS) The cold wave, which had slightly eased in Orissa last week, returned with the minimum temperature dropping in several parts of the state, officials said Monday.
Phulbani town in the district of Kandhamal, about 200 km from here, Sunday recorded 9.8 degrees Celsius, the days’ lowest, an official of the meteorological centre here told IANS.
Sundergarh, Bolangir and Bhabanipatna in western Orissa recorded 9.9, 10.0, and 10.5 degrees Celsius respectively, he said.
The minimum temperatures in state capital Bhubaneswar and the coastal town of Puri were however 15.7 and 16.8 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The cold wave would continue till Tuesday, he added.
