Cold wave hits normal life in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Jan 25 (IANS) Cold wave conditions continued to hit normal life in parts of Orissa forcing large number of people to remain indoors in the morning and after sunset, an official said Monday.
“The minimum temperatures were below normal all over the state. Cold wave conditions prevailed over interior areas,” an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

Phulbani town in Kandhamal district, some 200 km from here, Monday recorded minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius, he said.

Baripada recorded a low of 9 degrees Celsius, Angul 9.6 degrees Celsius and Koraput 9.7 degrees Celsius.

The state capital Bhubaneswar and adjoining Cuttack city recorded minimum temperatures of 12.9 and 13.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
