Cold wave continues to grip Orissa
January 22nd, 2010 - 5:10 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 22 (IANS) Cold wave continued to grip parts of Orissa Friday as Phulbani town in Kandhamal district recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature of 5.2 degrees Celsius, an official said.
Several places recorded minimum temperatures of seven to 10 degrees Celsius.
The low temperature recorded in Bhabanipatna was 7.5 degrees Celsius, Sundergarh 8.4 degrees Celsius, Koraput 8.5 degrees Celsius, Bolangir 8.4 degrees Celsius and Keonjhar 8.8 degrees Celsius and Jharsuguda 8.9 degrees Celsius.
The coastal towns of Gopalpur, Paradip and Chandbali recorded minimum temperatures of 15.2, 13.3 and 12.2 degrees respectively, the met official said.
The minimum temperatures recorded in Bhubaneswar and its adjoining Cuttack city were 13.2 and 13.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
The cold wave will continue in many parts of interior Orissa this weekend, the weatherman added.
