Cold wave continues in Delhi
January 10th, 2011 - 12:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) A day after Delhi recorded the coldest day of the season, chilly winds continued to sweep the capital Monday and the minimum temperature stayed two notches below the normal at 4.7 degrees Celsius. The skies were, however, relatively clear leading to normal flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast clear skies during the day with cold winds sweeping the capital.
“There was mist and shallow fog in the capital. The day temperature is expected to increase and is likely to hover around 15 degrees,” an IMD official told IANS.
According to airport officials, the flight operations at the IGI Airport were normal as visibility was better. However, several trains were delayed due to fog in other parts of the country.
The weather office said the day temperature will rise in the next two-three days after which there is possibility of light showers.
Delhi recorded the coldest day in the past five years Sunday with day temperature dropping to 11 degrees Celsius - 10 degrees below the normal - while the minimum temperature was 5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal.
