Cold forces Orissa schools to suspend morning classes
January 8th, 2011 - 7:08 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 8 (IANS) The Orissa government Saturday asked all schools to suspend morning classes because of the intense cold wave conditions prevailing across the state.”We have instructed all schools not to hold morning classes until further orders,” Aparajita Sarangi, secretary of the school and mass education department, told IANS Saturday.
The cold wave continued to grip the state Saturday with Phulbani town, the district headquarters of Kandhamal, about 200 kms from here, recording 3 degrees Celsius, the state’s lowest minimum temperature for the day.
Several other places also witnessed chilly weather, including Keonjhar (5.2 degrees), Sambalpur (5.7 degrees) and Sundergarh (5.9 degrees), an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre said.
