New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) It was an unusually warm morning for this time of the year in the capital Friday with some mist and overcast skies. The met office recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius, eight degrees above normal.

Despite rainfall measuring .6 mm early morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a clear day ahead.

The IMD said the high temperature was due to cloudy skies. “The clouds trap the heat in the environment resulting in higher temperatures,” an official told IANS.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 90 percent.

“The day will remain clear and sunny and there is no forecast of rain in the evening. The maximum temperature will hover around 27 degrees,” the official added.

Friday’s maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 29.2 and 14.4 degrees respectively, both five notches above average.
