Cloudy morning in Delhi, rains expected
August 15th, 2010 - 11:14 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) It was a cloudy and humid morning in Delhi Sunday, a day after heavy rains lashed the capital and the weatherman forecast more showers during the day.
The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for this time of the season. The humidity settled at a high of 97 percent.
“The skies will remain cloudy with the possibility of rains in parts of the city towards the afternoon,” said an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official.
Commuters had a harrowing time on Delhi roads Saturday as intermittent heavy rains led to water-logging, resulting in traffic snarls and breakdown of vehicles in many areas.
Delhi, till 8.30 a.m. Sunday, recorded rainfall of 62 mm. The city so far has received 444.9 mm of rainfall, which is nine percent above average.
The maximum temperature Sunday is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, the official said.
