Cloudy day ahead in Delhi, rains likely

New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) The national capital is likely to see cloudy skies and some rains Friday, a weather official said.
“The skies will be cloudy and some parts of the capital will experience rain and thunderstorms,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

Delhi recorded a minimum of 26.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average for this time of the season. The humidity was recorded at 95 percent.

According to weather officials, the capital received 8.2 mm of rainfall from Thursday morning till 8.30 a.m. Friday and more rains are expected later in the day.

The maximum temperature Friday is expected to hover around 33 degrees.

As rain lashed parts of the city Thursday evening, traffic jams were reported from some parts of north and south Delhi.

Delhi has recorded 710.8 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, which is 34 percent above average. In August alone, the capital received 455.1 mm of rainfall - almost 101 percent above average.
