Citizens on clean Delhi drive
September 10th, 2010 - 1:14 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) A group of Delhi residents are making efforts to clean their city with “Clean Delhi-NCR Drive” across the national capital.
Students, activists, members of resident welfare associations (RWAs) and local residents all joined in Thursday to conduct en masse cleaning and awareness drive, a release said.
Over 3,000 people came together from different areas to clean the stretch from Karkardooma market, IP Extention, Soorajmal Vihar market, Saini Enclave market, Vivek Vihar market, Savita Vihar market to Dallupur -Vasundhara Enclave area of the city.
“This kind of a clean up of these surroundings has never happened in all these years. It is indeed praiseworthy of the efforts of all and Art of Living,” said Mohinder Jain, councillor (east Delhi), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The volunteers will take the drive to central Delhi Friday morning.
