CII Green Business Centre wins global award
March 23rd, 2009 - 6:58 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 23 (IANS) The CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre in Hyderabad has won the 2009 international Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards in the NGO category, a CII spokesman said here Monday.
The award will be presented at a ceremony on March 27, 2009 in Aspen, Colorado.
The CII centre beat four finalists to win the award, which is given for contributions in increasing renewable energy generation, increasing efficiency, achieving radical price reductions, or developing new green markets in developing countries.
The centre works in the areas of green buildings, energy efficiency, water management, environment management, renewable energy, green business incubation and climate change activities.
“In these challenging economic times it is more important than ever to recognize and support those who inspire us with their imagination, foresight and creativity, and give us all something to aspire to and replicate,” said Lucy P. Marcus, co-founder and board chair of the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards, according to the CII spokesman.
