Chhattisgarh reels under heat wave
May 12th, 2011 - 9:40 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, May 12 (IANS) People in Chhattisgarh sweltered under a blazing sun Thursday, with Bilaspur town recording a maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius, the season’s highest so far for the state, an official said.
Capital Raipur saw the mercury touch the 44-degree mark.
“Mercury crossed 44 degrees for the first time this season today. Almost the entire state is reeling under intense heat wave and the mercury is expected to rise further by one or two degrees in the coming days,” B.L, Sahu, director of the meteorological department here, told reporters.
